A Lower Towamba man has been found safe and well after the Westpac Life Saver helicopter was sent to search for him

Just after midday on Tuesday, January 7 officers from the South Coast Police District received a report that 'Colin' - a 70-year-old Lower Towamba man - had yet to be accounted for following bushfires at the weekend.

There was concern as police were told Colin had stayed to defend his property and cattle from the fire.
Officers at the Bega Emergency Operations Centre commenced inquiries and the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter was requested to assist police access the remote property.
Local police, including a police chaplain, were flown to the location about 4.30pm, and following a search of the property, Colin was located safe and well.
