Six Degrees of Diabetes, written by Alan Hopgood and directed by Lis Shelley, is a collaboration between Melbourne theatre company Health Play, its parent company Bay Street Productions, Footprint Theatre and South East Arts.
Performances will take place at the Pambula-Merimbula Golf Club at 1pm on August 1, followed by the Bega Valley Commemorative Civic Centre at 5.30pm.
A performance is also scheduled for the Mechanics Institute of Moruya on August 3 at 1pm.
Mr Hopgood will attend the Merimbula and Bega shows, while all performances will be followed by a Q&A session with diabetes educators and specialist health staff.
An estimated 1.2 million Australians, over five per cent of the population, suffer from diabetes.
“Health Play write and performs plays offering a humorous outlook on challenging health issues,” South East Arts said.
“The narratives are inspired by true life stories.
“Their plays can be performed almost anywhere and are accompanied by a discussion forum.”
