If there was ever any doubt, the latest wave of nominations for the Excellence in Eden Business Awards tells the story.
The IGA Eden proprietor and staff member Amber Seckold have both scored nominations for ‘best customer service by an individual’, while the store itself is in the mix for ‘best retail business’.
It’s an impressive list, but the IGA Eden proprietor says there’s nothing revolutionary about his business approach.
“We’re a part of the community – that’s what IGA is all about,” he said.
“I’m thrilled to be recognised in this way.
“We just try to help people – if they need something, we make it our priority to give them assistance.
“That’s all you can do – customer service is vital.”
Con and his family moved to Eden four years ago, having previously worked in hospitality.
He believes his customer service background has stood him in good stead.
“You rely on your customers to keep your doors open, so it’s vital to satisfy them and to offer the best help you can when they need something,” he said.
“We support the Whalers [AFL club], the rugby league club, golf, swimming and soccer.
“We’re just a part of the community.
“Plus, I’ve got great customers and great staff – that’s what makes it all worthwhile.”
Nominations for all six categories of the 2014 Excellence in Eden Business Awards close on Monday, November 17, ahead of the gala presentation night at Jigamy Farm on Saturday, December 6.
