The station will host the Chris Harland Blues Band at 8pm on Saturday, November 21.
The band, which has members based in Canberra and the Sapphire Coast, exemplifies the 'Chicago tradition' of electric blues, which found huge popularity and a British 'spin-off' identity during the 1960s and 1970s in the music of John Mayall, Eric Clapton, Mick Taylor and many others.
The band was originally formed in Brighton in the UK as a blues duo, and the name travelled with Chris when he re-located to Canberra. Chris is acclaimed for the impact of his guitar playing and in 2008 was voted Instrumentalist of the Year by the Canberra Blues Society.
The band will play tracks from its albums 'A Long Time Coming' and its new release 'Live At The Grand', to be officially launched at Smith's Alternative, 76 Alinga St in Canberra on November 28.
They will also perform at Longstocking Brewery at 1pm on Sunday 22, as part of the Candelo Blues Club's Jam Day.
The 'live-to-air' studio was designed and built by Sapphire FM's Greg Bordas and John Drakopoulos over a five year time frame.
The event on Saturday night will broadcast live audio on 97.5 fm and live pictures and audio on Sapphire FM's Youtube channel.
Bands and musicians are invited to send expressions of interest to live.to.air@sapphirefm.org, with more details at the station's Facebook page, www.facebook.com/sapphirefm.
