The Bega Valley Shire Council and Merimbula Tourism are hosting the New Year’s Eve (NYE) Extravaganza at Ford Park in Merimbula.
Starting at 10am on Monday, December 31, the event will run all day through to the fireworks spectacular which will conclude the festivities at 10pm.
So, what’s on?
The Merimbula Rotary Gourmet Market – Ford Park will be the venue for over 60 market stalls, live entertainment throughout the day, circus workshop, fun things for the kids, and a vintage vehicles and hot rod display at the northern end of the park.
The market will close at 3.30pm to make way for the live music concert at 5pm.
The gates to the concert will swing open for a modest $5 per head. Accompanied children under 12 are free, eftpos will be available.
The day's entertainment will continue with a line-up of some of the best musical talent in the south-east.
Alice Wiebe, an up and coming young singer-songwriter starts the proceedings while the crowd rolls in to find themselves a prime position on the grass to enjoy the music and wait for the 9.30pm fireworks spectacular.
To pick up the pace the very talented band Mojo will get the crowd a rockin' and a rollin'.
At 7.30, the fabulous Figmentz take the to the stage - with the musical talent spearheaded by the incomparable Andy O'Donnell, backed by the supreme rhythm section bass player Dave David Crowden, drummer extraordinaire Ken Vatcher, and keyboard king John Drews. They will have the crowd on their feet and dancing.
To take the night to another level the Figmentz will be joined by the fantastic brass section, The Sapphire Horns, comprising of Georgi Hargraves, Helen Gill and Oscar Gill.
The Figmentz are on stage performing to 9.30 – right up to the fireworks display.
If that’s not enough – the new year will be welcomed by a five minute fireworks display at midnight.
Please note, due to limited parking in the Fishpen area it is recommended that cars are to park at the boat ramp car park near the bridge, or in the CBD carparks followed by a short walk to the event Ford Park.
