A gold coin donation entry to the Thrifty Link town garage sale contributed to Hunter’s fund, as well as a percentage of profits from clients of Cheveux By Twofold hair salon.
Cakes were handed out, over $300 of salon giveaways by Hairjamm and Matrix were offered to hair clients, faces were painted for donation, and town crier Alan Moyse walked the streets announcing the grand event.
Cheveux By Twofold hair salon manager Megan Adams concluded it was a “super busy” day.
“Saturday morning was a huge success,” Ms Adams said on Monday April 18.
“The town crier was so much fun. He donated his time and kept the people in the street well informed of our salon’s going-ons’.”
Eden Public School pupil Hunter Upton wants to raise a target amount of $1000 – which she plans to donate to the Starlight Foundation – before shaving off her hair for the worthy cause.
Mum Julie Staight said her daughter is close to fulfilling this target, thanks to Eden.
“I want to thank everyone involved, and the community for its kindness,” Ms Staight said.
Hunter made a star appearance at the hair salon, helping staff with hair-styles, and fulfilling other roles throughout the day.
“It went good; I swept, I washed peoples’ hair, I handed out food, I also helped face-paint, and I walked around the town with the town crier,” Hunter said.
“I had fun. People said ‘congratulations’, ‘proud of you doing a good deed’, and helped us in the stall.
“I want to thank all of Eden...I’m getting closer to getting my hair shaved!”
Hunter’s final fund-raising push will be at the Eden Public School when school resumes for term two, with Hunter’s hair shave scheduled to coincide with her ninth birthday on May 23.
