Mother Julie Staight said Hunter’s been bugging her to do it since she was in preschool, and she only agreed to let her when Hunter came up with the idea of doing it for a charity.
“If she raises $1000, she can shave it all off,” Ms Staight said on Wednesday March 30.
Hunter chose the Starlight Foundation to realise her ambition because of its mandate helping hospitalised children.
“I like Starlight because they make kids happy, and takes them places,” Hunter said on Wednesday.
Hunter’s $1000 target is being assisted by numerous Eden businesses offering donation tins, and ongoing support by Eden’s Cheveux on Twofold hair salon’s manager Megan Adams who has trimmed Hunter’s hair since babyhood.
“Hunter is always so sweet, always wants to sweep the floor whenever she comes into the salon, and this is a great way to support her back,” Ms Adams said on Tuesday March 29.
In an extra stroke of bravery, this eight year old plans to shave her hair off at school assembly, witnessed by her peers, on her ninth birthday in May.
To help Hunter hit her target, Cheveux by Twofold is holding a special fundraising morning on Saturday April 16, with proceeds of all cuts and colours donated to Hunter as well as giveaways, cake and face painting.
But the great drawcard of the day? Hunter herself will be sweeping the salon floor.
