I lived the first three years of my life under the roof of the Seahorse Inn. I was the eldest of four children and moved into Eden with my siblings and parents during 1952-53.
What do you like most about your job?
As a volunteer I like being able to choose what's next. I volunteer at EKWM, including attending to the flag masts. I have been involved in many different voluntary roles. I was previously a carpenter and cabinet maker and loved working with wood. I liked the satisfaction when we would hand over the finished article or home, and see the delight on the faces of our customers at how their wishes had been interpreted.
What do you like least about your job?
The shortage of volunteers we have in Eden. More volunteers would allow us to undertake more work as a community. There are hundreds of wonderful volunteers but we need new blood that can carry on.
What's your favourite place in Eden and/or the Bega Valley?
The Seahorse Inn. It's a sacred place to me.
If you won $1million what would you do first?
I would find someone else who also won a million dollars and team up with them to rebuild the Boydtown Church. A million wouldn't be enough.
What is one thing you cannot live without?
A trip to the Eden Wharf, I love it down there.
What are three words that describe Eden best?
Heaven on earth.
What do you think Eden needs the most as a community?
More volunteers and less knockers. We would get better results if there were more people to spread the load. It's absolutely wonderful when people move here and want to get involved. Community spirit goes a long way.
