President of the Sapphire Coast Sporting Car Club Kim Boyd said the event would go ahead on the October long weekend of October 2-3 and has retained a NSW Rally Championship round and even attracted broader interest.
The rally had been scheduled to run over the June long weekend, but organisers were forced to pull the plug after being alerted by the Bega Valley Shire Council that a number of Shire roads marking the start of the rally had been heavily rain-damaged and were unsuitable to compete on.
Forestry roads near Eden were given the all clear ahead of the weekend, but organisers had been told further rainfall would have made those stages equally unusable.
However, Mr Boyd said the new dates brought hope of better weather and a larger roster of entries.
"Everything will run as it was going to be over the weekend ... and there are two other eligible classes that will join because they've lost another rally somewhere on the north coast," Mr Boyd said.
"There is a silver lining in every cloud and that is we should have more competitors and more people into the Valley spending their hard--earned dollars and enjoying the region."
The new dates will now include five separate class rounds.
It will run as a stage of the NSW Rally Championship, but also feature as a round of the East Coast Classic Series for both 2WD and 4WD.
The rally will also welcome the Clubman Rally Series and the two newcomers the Hyundai Rally Series and the ACT Rally Series.
