The trio of teenagers will be representing NSW to compete against the top kids across the country, after qualifying with an overall score of 67.05.
Ashley Sher of Millingandi, aged 15, Monique Gibbons of Tura Beach, 15, and Brooke Chester of Broadwater, 13, started off doing gymnastics, but decided to switch to acrobatics when the COVID lockdown prevented them from attending their regular individual training sessions.
They showed their dedication and trained together via video calls for six weeks.
In late April of 2020 when Eden Area Gymnastics Centre in Pambula was allowed to re-open, the acrobats were finally able to train together in person again.
Co-owner of the centre and mother of Brooke, Janine Chester said the girls had attended extra training sessions at Oak Flats and the main coach there had advised the girls to move to a higher level.
"This is basically their first competition in acrobatics as a trio," Janine said.
"It really is quite a big achievement - it's great for country kids to be in the competition"
The Level 8 Women's Trio train between 12 and 16 hours per week on top of schooling and jobs.
"They were all really chuffed to qualify," Janine said.
"We got some feedback from the judges about areas which could be improved and they are pretty simple, so we should come back bigger and better next time, even though we are really proud of the results."
The girls are coached by Bennett Moroney and Janine Chester.
"They have been able to express themselves a lot more this year and show their personalities in their routines, the majority of the work is from them," Janine said.
"They bounce ideas off each other with their choreography.
"They most enjoy the team spirit of getting together and acheiving it together rather than on their own."
The costs to participate in the competitions are quickly adding up. Contact Janine via email if you would like to make a kind donation to support the trio or have any fundraising ideas: oureagc@gmail.com.
