Crews recently held joint emergency training in preparation for the holiday period, which may also prove useful during the Sydney to Hobart.
"From Boxing Day onwards all through that holiday period we have staff on for any marine related needs," Marine Area Command Sergeant Steven Judd said.
"For the Sydney to Hobart in particular we're at maximum staffing and able to respond to any situation, whether it be medivac, general assistance or to tow yachts in that have become disabled."
Mr Judd said the 100-foot Water Police boat Nemesis would sail with the race, while Eden crews were on deck should a medical emergency, or mechanical incident occur.
The local crew will be well equipped with a Class 2 patrol boat they took delivery of in February.

"Most importantly with our new boat we have a five-metre vessel we can launch off the back to provide medivac," he said.
He said water police had recently done training exercises in conjunction with the NSW Ambulance service to provide rapid response medical aid on the water.
"That was a great way to familiarize everyone with the vessel with a view to summer and the Sydney to Hobart."

Mr Judd said it was an exciting time as Eden has historically proven to be a 'strategically important' factor in the Sydney to Hobart - be it safe harbour, or to provide specialist marine services that allow crews to finish the race.
He commended the local community's "never say never" attitude toward helping competitors complete the iconic sailing event.
