I have had an association with Eden for many years, volunteering at the Log Cabin, and my present efforts providing demonstrations of antique printing began in early 2020. I also count time at Green Cape lighthouse, especially the relighting 2000, to present.
What do you like most about your job?
It's not so much a job as a passion. I am not bound by the confines of having to make a living from it and this is a kind of freedom. I like demonstrating the art of letterpress printing, and explaining why it has been such a multi-faceted influence on Western thought and culture.
What do you like least about your job?
It is perhaps too free. The possibilities are at times overwhelming, and I have to stay disciplined and focused. If the cruise ships come back, that will provide a clearer target.
What's your favourite place in Eden and/or the Bega Valley?
The waterfront and wider marine environment. It is something to feature in my printed work as souvenirs for visitors or students, to take home and reflect on. The working port, boats and ships, marine life, the ceaseless movement of wind, waves and tides, are deeply embedded in me. I could still be tempted to give the land away, and go back to sea: pity about the 30 tons of printing gear!
If you won $1miillion what would you do first?
Buy the topsail schooner "Amazone", for the Twofold Bay marine tourism project! This great concept, arising out of the "Wanderer" reconstruction plan, could help establish Eden as a top marine tourism destination.

What do you think Eden needs the most as a community?
To build on its great asset: a fine maritime setting, the town on a ship-like peninsular bisecting Twofold Bay. A transition, perhaps, from exploitative activity to regenerative, restorative, while still producing income.Clean up, stop further, plastic contamination of the oceans!
