Council has agreed to make changes to dog walking areas that will provide dog owners with additional on and off leash spaces in the shire.

The debate was relatively short with Cr Sharon Tapscott keen not to see staff time taken up with the matter.
"We've got people living in tents without homes. I don't want to see staff time taken up rewriting this. Let's get on with the important stuff," Cr Tapscott said.
Council has agreed:
- Lions Park (near Mogareeka), currently a dog prohibited area be changed to dog on leash
- The old punt landing on the south west side of the Bega River, currently dog prohibited be changed to dog off leash
- Mogareeka reserve, on the north east side of Bega River in the vicinity of Bay Drive, currently dog prohibited be changed to dog on leash
- Kianniny Reserve, which is currently dog prohibited be changed to dog on leash
- Pambula Rivermouth, currently dog prohibited be changed to dog on leash
- Spencer Park, Merimbula, currently dog prohibited be changed to dog on leash
- Bar Beach except December 1- April 30 from 10am-4pm, where dog prohibition applies, will be off leash
- Mitches Jetty moves to dog on leash
The changes follow a notice of motion by Cr Mitchell Nadin who was assisted by Tathra resident David Porter and three deputations at the council meeting including one by Mr Porter.
