A large crowd were treated to songs from the Eden Public School, Eden Marine students and a couple of harmonised sea shanties from the Eden Singers.
Destination Southern NSW Chairman Mr Richard Beere commended the Eden community for creating a festival which celebrates the uniqueness of the Far South Coast.
"Eden is the gateway to the Sapphire Coast and as a tourism place you [Eden community] embrace that and you embrace tourists and we want that to continue to grow.
"The number of tourists coming and enjoying and learning about things that you've got: like whale watching and whales are classic experiences that people want."
He added that the festival's combination of music, seafood, whales and great community was the kind of things Destination NSW wanted towns and communities to do.
Before declaring the festival officially open Mr Beere congratulated the festival organisers, sponsors, local community and the whale museum for supporting and maintaining the festival as it moves on from year to year.
