The visiting Eden side had the game in their grips from the outset as they hammered home a 13-10-88 to 0-0-0 scoreline with the hosts finding no opportunities for a shot on goals.
The seniors had also put Merimbula under pressure early, but couldn't keep pace with the competition-leading outfit, going down 16-6-102 to 4-5-29.
In the women's competition, the win pushed Eden to a 3-3 scorecard from the opening six rounds to sit in fourth place.
The club is two competition points clear of the Panthers, but four in arrears of Bermagui with Narooma and Tathra a further two ahead of that.
Much of the game was won through the middle with Elyshia Westley, Carra Sheldon and Jemma Pollock working well to ensure the lion's share of ball was heading to Eden's attacking forwards.
From there, the Whalers had no problems finishing with three goals in the first quarter and a further three in the second, with a bag of behinds giving them a 40 point buffer at the main break.
Mel Mitchell and Jemma scared goal-scoring honours with three goals apiece, while Sheldon backed up with two.
The Whalers showed their versatility in the front lines with a further five individual goal-scorers on the day.
In the senior showdown, the Diggers were challenged early in the piece by the Whalers who contested well in the central clearances.
The Whalers challenged the high ball well and play began to fluctuate through the middle with the visitors even able to kick a pair of goals early to lead 12-6 ahead of the Diggers.
However, Merimbula began finding their stride and the middle started to take more control for the Diggers to post options on the goals.
Daniel Worden was in the thick of the play, while Brendon Gordon and Harrison Peters were also heavily active through the midfield.
With some quick movement by Noah and Jedd Martyn, possession was starting to favour the Diggers' attacking end and the club were rewarded with a lead 25-12 at the first break.
The home side were fully in their stride by the second quarter to outscore the visitors five goals to one, which laid the foundation for the second half of play as the Diggers ran away with the result.
This weekend marks the halfway mark in the 2019 season of the competition with the Whalers to play host to the Pambula Panthers.
The women's game will give the Eden outfit a shot to extend their lead over the Panthers and reel back the top three clubs.
Meanwhile, the men's side will be looking for their first win of 2019 with games to be held at the Eden Cricket ground from 1.10pm for ladies and 2.30pm in the seniors.
