Recently, Batemans Bay Phoenix powered through the NSW State Surf Life Saving Championships with confidence, and did not disappoint.
The surf boat crew swept by Neil Innes, took out gold in the female masters 180+ category, March 8-10.
The crew then backed-up to compete in the reserve women's division, claiming a hard won silver.

"They were very excited to be able to back-up and receive a silver medal," Innes said.
The crew were hot to beat in the reserve women's final, only just pipped by South Maroubra who took on the same wave from an outside alley.
"The girls were pretty pumped, we weren't quite sure because we thought we got the win, but then looked over and saw the other girls had snuck in next to us on the same wave," Innes said.
South Maroubra had made history, with Beck Hamilton as the first female sweep to win a NSW state gold.
Also in the reserve women's state final was Broulee Surfers who placed 5th.
Next on Bay Phoenix's competition calendar, is their final season stint at the Australian Surf Life Saving Championships.

Surf boat crews from around the country will go head-to-head in the infamous challenging surf of Kurrawa - the heart of Broadbeach on the Gold Coast, March 30 to April 7.
The Bay Phoenix will compete in both women's masters and reserve divisions.
Innes said The Aussie Titles is a massive mental game, mixed with luck of the surf.
"The racing will be red hot, there are some very good crews," he said.

"Although there is an element of luck that comes into Kurrawa. Because it has very patchy surf, there are a lot of gutters and broken surf.
"The best crews can be taken on the nose by a wave and then the crew beside them can get through clean," Innes said.

In November, the seasoned rowers brought home gold medals after a win at the world championships at Adelaide. The crew have also claimed medals at The Team Navy ASRL Championships and most recently, the NSW State Championships.
Innes said the crew are one step away from capping off the season on a high.
"Our goal is to come away with another gold but the best of plans don't always come to fruition.
"Going to Aussies, there are no guarantees, but we would like to knock that last title off for the season," he said.
Batemans Bay's open men's crew will also compete at the Aussie Titles.
