Two volunteers have pulled the event together in just two months after the task was handed over by the Eden Chamber of Commerce.
“The Chamber were just too busy this year,” Wendy Ramage said.
Ms Ramage and Tiona Hall were determined to bring Christmas to Imlay, although said there was pressure to organise in such a short time frame within a tight budget.
“We literally went and door knocked every business in town, they have been fabulous with their donations of vouchers. The businesses have really come on board and have been amazing,” Ms Ramage said.
Through fundraising last year, the Chamber raised nearly $3000 to pay for event costs, which included face painting, a jumping castle, music and a Santa Claus appearance.
This year volunteers worked to a tight budget of $1000, funded by the Bega Valley Shire Council.
“We have done everything on a very strict budget, and can’t believe we have actually been left with change!” Ms Ramage said.
Campbell Page is supporting the evening by supplying a face painting stall, Santa comes free of charge with thanks to Eden local Barry Griffiths and Eden's own community radio, 2SEAFM, is providing music.
“We think it is such an exciting time for kids, and to see the community come together and get the Christmas Spirit in town,” Ms Ramage said.
“There has been so much help from Eden’s town team of council workers who have been marvelous, also men of ESSCI have stepped in to help – they do a lot of work behind the scenes.”
Shops will stay open to 8pm with an additional 25 market stalls and food vendors. A variety of entertainment will light up the street, plus $2600 worth of voucher giveaways from Eden businesses.
Business voucher giveaways will be drawn at 6pm, 7pm and 7.30pm – ticket holders must be present.
Grocery Grab at IGA Eden is on at 7.10pm.
Santa appearance is at 6.15pm – 7.30pm.
Please note Imlay Street will be closed off from 4pm.
