The Merimbula Chamber of Commerce is hosting a busking competition for talented young performers to perform in the Merimbula CBD on the weekend prior to New Year’s Eve (NYE).
“It will revitalise and energise Merimbula before New Year’s Eve,” chamber member Graeme Wykes said.
With $1000 prize money, Beachside Buskers is open to a variety of acts which includes; singers, instrumentalists, dancers, magicians, jugglers, bands, poets etc – in fact anything that represents street performance.
“Judges will come around and listen to each busker, there will be four finalists sharing $1000 in prize money,” Mr Wykes said.
The competition is open to performers between the ages of 10 and 29 with a maximum of four members for a musical group.
“We hope to revitalise and energise the town before New Year’s Eve, we need a minimum of 15 buskers to make this a viable event,” Mr Wykes said.
Depending on numbers the preliminary heats will begin on Friday, December 28 and finish on NYE, Monday December 31 at Ford Park, Merimbula.
