Co-ordinator Peter Ayling said it was one of three pillars supporting the story of Ben Boyd in Australia in the period 1842-1849.

“The other two pillars are the projects to operate a top-sail schooner, the Wanderer 2, out of Eden and to build historic whale boats with the possibility of reviving the Eden whale boat regatta,” Mr Ayling said.
The centre is located in the Boydtown shipyard on the Boydtown Park Road, Boydtown.
The centre features original paintings and period photographs with extensive descriptions of Ben Boyd’s activities including commercial enterprises such as whaling, shipping, banking, owning and operating stations, meat and wool growing and trading both out of Sydney and Boydtown.
In 1843 he purchased 640 acres on which Boydtown was developed.
A hotel, now known as The Seahorse Inn, was one of the first substantial buildings on the site. The centre will be open Saturday and Sunday, November 3, 4 from 10am until 4pm.
