The ladies continued their winning form with a resounding 9-0 win over the Mallacoota ladies on Sunday, but the reserve grade men’s outfit didn’t fare quite so well, going down 5-0 to the Bega Red Devils.
Following the win, the women’s outfit is holding equal first with the Wolumla Tigresses.
However, the Killer Whales are sitting proud of the Wolumla outfit with 14 more goals on the card than their nearest rival and just three goals scored against either club.
The weekend results mean the Killer Whales are sitting in 7th on the competition ladder, but could quickly leapfrog to fifth with Bemboka and Pambula on the same points.
The ladies will have a bye this weekend, while the men’s outfit plays host to Tathra on the Eden Soccer Ground at 1.20pm on Sunday.
In other weekend games, the Bega Devils shored up their strength in first grade with a 7-1 result over Tathra.
The returning Chris Dwyer provided x-factor for the Devils with a four-goal haul after Tathra were left a man-down with a defender sent off.
Meanwhile, the Wolumla Tigers battled out a closely fought 2-0 win over the Pambula Penguins.
Pambula weren’t a man short, but did lose a defender after Pat Wilson suffered a head-knock and had to be sidelined bleeding.
Merimbula, who had a bye over the weekend, holds the lead in the men’s competition after three rounds with two wins and a draw.
