The crowd looked to the east as sunrise began, to watch the sun break out over a horizon of cloud while the last post was played.
Legacy’s Rex Kermode addressed the crowd, and was joined at the podium by Tathra RSL’s Allen Collins.
Mick Attwill also spoke to the crowd, reminding those present of the forces that led to WWI, and how it shaped society.
He also asked the crowd to be aware that the ground they stood upon that morning was the same place many enlisted from the Bega Valley for WWI waited to board ships to Sydney from Tathra wharf in 1914.
Service men and women from both Tathra and beyond gathered together for the early morning service, sharing tea from the billy and Anzac biscuits after the ceremony.
