What a naff idea. Would the upgrade of the port in Twofold Bay be for the shipping of nuclear waste? Trucks of radioactive material rumbling through the shopping precinct, or past the schools... Another brains' trust that thinks in terms of things and money, and not people.

Asbestos plan for Eden tip
The material is meant to be sealed and wrapped before transportation and burial. I think so long as the trucks proceed safely through the roads and towns, there would be minimal risk, or even none, apart from the original sites in Tathra. The material has to go somewhere, and the explanation offered by council seems valid. The increase in the number of heavy vehicles on the road is the biggest but unavoidable risk.
