The talented Felicia Harding, Marina Avros and Aussie singer-songwriter Jaime Jackett have worked together to produce a new album called Powerful Owl.
They have combined exquisite harmonies and relateable stories into a 10-track upbeat sonic journey.
Covering themes from love and loss to overcoming life-threatening illness, each track has significant meaning and powerful messaging.
Fall in love with me is one of their standout tracks on the album, which was released in conjunction with the marriage equality deate taking place here in Australia.
Avros had written the song based on a personal story about a queer poet from Montreal that had confessed her love for her.
“It happened perfectly that the timing of marriage equality and the plebiscite was happening in Australia.”
“We had recorded the song and were happy that we had something of super high quality that we could give to everyone to lift their spirits, give them hope and inspiration, to help make them stronger and to get out there and vote yes,” Avros said.
Keep an ear out for one of their songs that didn't make the album, Berry Mountain.
During a previous Australian tour, the trio had fallen in love with Berry Mountain, a place just west of the historical town of Berry, New South Wales.
“It was my first experience of wombat dodging in the dark, as we drove down this sketchy mountain.”
Amazed by the scenery and the different types of birds, Avros said she had a wonderful experience waking up in the morning.
“I had a hard time sleeping-in, because of the birds, so many different types! It was such a beautiful place to get over the jet lag.”
The trio will begin the tour of the new album on January 3 at Magic Mountain before continuing on to other rural areas around Australia.
“It’s going to be a full-on tour, we won’t be able to do too many touristy things.
“We fly in on the second of January, so hopefully the jet lag won’t be too bad.
“The first week of shows will be dream-like,” Avros said.
