Mr Lambourn has spent decades landscaping his garden, which houses his extensive collection of nautical items.
But the maritime theme doesn’t stop at the backyard. Inside, Mr Lambourn has decorated his ‘man cave’ with old ship wheels, portholes, telegraphs and binnacles, including some from the American navy.
He also converted what was an indoor swimming pool into a sunken bar, made to resemble a ship’s deck.
“It’s definitely an obsession of mine, I think when you live by the ocean the salt gets into your blood,” he said.
Visitors to the Lambourns’ garden said it was a great opportunity to explore the property that always caught their eye from the road or the wharf.
The Lambourns predicted double the amount of people passed through their property this year, compared to the last time they opened their garden gates in 2015.
At $10 each, Open Garden organiser Sandra Symonds said ticket sales for the weekend’s event raised considerable funds for the Eden Lioness Club, and thanked the community and volunteers for their support.
