Eden struggled to put numbers on the scoreboard – and the field – on Saturday, running on with only 10 players.
Luke Grewar was Eden’s sole goal scorer of the day. Two behinds brought their final score to eight.
Narooma’s Simon Mackie tallied up 15 goals and Rowan Hawkey claimed eight. At full time the scoreboard read 1.2 (8) to 35.28 (238).
While the men struggled, the Whalers’ women’s team redeemed the club with a 43-point victory over Narooma.
Eden was ahead at quarter time with a shaky start of 12 behinds and no goals.
By half time, Eden still hadn’t conceded a point, and worked up a comfortable 38-point advantage.
The final score came in at 7.19 (61) to 3.0 (18).
Eden’s top goal kickers were Maggie Brown and Kamilla Grubesic with two each.
Grubesic’s consistent results have put her in the running for biggest goal kicker of this year’s women's competition.
At 21 goals for the season, she sits one behind Pambula’s Madi Whatman who currently holds the title.
On the ladder, Eden sits at second place on equal points with Pambula and two points behind top placed Tathra.
Any seniors players who are keen and able to boost numbers for the Eden Whalers should get in touch with the club for next season.
