Gulaga is a Part 4A National Park, co-managed by the Gulaga National Park Board of Management and the National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS).
A spokesperson from the National Parks and Wildlife Service said the Board and NPWS jointly decided to close the park in February to conduct track and trail maintenance.
“The maintenance will improve the condition of the track, prevent erosion and ensure that emergency access is made for visitors to the park,” the spokesperson said.
“The closure has remained in place while the works are occurring to ensure public safety. Finalisation of these works was delayed by several weather events, including nearly a week of significant rain in March.”
The Gulaga National Park Board of Management will inspect the works before the park is reopened to the public in late May 2017, weather depending, the spokespersons said.
