VIEW Club
The Eden View Club will be having its next meeting on February 27 at the Eden Fisherman’s Club this will be our AGM, so committee members 10.30am and others 11.30 for 12. If you would like to join a group of fun-loving ladies who raise funds for the Smith Family give Aileen a call on 64961920 or just come along, we have lunches, morning teas and outings. We meet on the fourth Monday of the month.
GENEALOGY
The Genealogy Society’s first meeting for 2017 will be held at 2pm at the Masonic Hall, Bega, on Sunday, February 26 followed by afternoon tea. Visitors and members are invited to hear Annette Irvine tell the story of Dennis Monahan with the interesting title of her talk being ‘Have you a tiger in your family, Irish and /or Tasmanian’? This might set you on the track to find out more of your Australian or overseas ‘tiger’ and other characters at The Society’s extensive library at the Old Courthouse, Pambula.
Rotary Radio
This week on Rotary Radio, Sapphire FM 97.5 - after the usual community news segment from Gav and Col at 8.30am, Colin will be joined by Lynne Koerbin, President of Community Carers Accommodation. Lynne is well known in the community for her support of health and welfare issues. At 10am Colin has a chat with Paul Pincini. Paul is a former councillor and now runs a highly successful bus travel business, Merimbula Holiday Tours. And at 11am Many Richardson, one of Pambula Rotary’s newest members, joins Colin to have some fun.
Meals on Wheels
The Meals on Wheels roster beginning Monday, February 27 is: Monday, Mary-Lou Albaladejo and Mary Payne; Tuesday, Jan Alan and Leone Fairweather; Wednesday, Steve and Marie Mahoney; Thursday, Rose and Jack Dickenson; Friday, Mary Mitchell and Gayl Cox.
Workshop
The Eden Community Access Centre is hosting a free creative writer’s workshop to celebrate NSW Seniors Week on Tuesday, March 7 from 10am-12.30pm at the Eden library. Local author Diana Harley will help you to tap into your writing potential to celebrate all things “senior”.
No need to be experienced just come along and have some fun! The theme of this year’s senior’s week is “Let’s do more together”. Refreshments provided. Bookings essential. Call 6496 3970.
Dragons visit
On Tuesday, February 14, Eden Marine High School was buzzing with excitement as three members of the St George Illawarra Dragons NRL team, Josh Kerr, Drew Hutchison and Jason Gillard visited the school to discuss respect and belonging.
The players spoke about the importance of showing respect in a number of different groups such as sporting teams, friend groups and family, as well as, discussing the importance of belonging in different groups. They discussed with us their own personal stories in regards to respect and belonging.
Players also visited Lumen Christi Catholic College.
