Following a search of the area by the Westpac Life Saver helicopter, two brothers aged 18 and 20 years old were located safe on the shore.
At 6.50pm on Wednesday, reports were received of swimmers in trouble at the bay, south of Eden at Wonboyn.
Chief executive officer of Westpac Life Saver Rescue helicopters Stephen Leahy said an extensive search was conducted, with the two men on board a capsized canoe eventually located safe and well.
“The remoteness and difficulty in accessing the location made for a difficult operation that lasted for almost two hours,” he said.
“The alarm was raised by the mother of the boys who contacted a local fisherman who raised the alarm at the Wonboyn Caravan Park.
“The fisherman then commandeered a vessel and responded to the site where he found an empty canoe while rescue crews were enroute.”
The Pambula Surf Life Saving Club, police and ambulance were all tasked to the bay.
The helicopter arrived at the scene at 8pm and searched along the bay, coastline, out to Green Cape and into Wonboyn Lake.
By 8.30pm, police were advised the missing men had been located.
Due to the darkness and windy conditions on the Far South Coast the crew of the helicopter decided to fly to Merimbula Airport where they will stay the night and will return to their base at Moruya Airport early Thursday morning.
7.50PM: There are unconfirmed reports two people have been swept out to sea at Disaster Bay.
A woman on the beach, which is located south of Eden at Wonboyn, reportedly called emergency services in distress saying her husband and son were caught in a rip and swept out to sea.
The call was received shortly before 7pm on Wednesday evening.
At 7.45pm the Westpac Life Saver helicopter was refueling at Merimbula Airport before continuing its journey south to the bay.
Police and other rescue services are making their way to the location.
The report remains unconfirmed at this stage while emergency service are on their way.
