We have a good report of morwong and snapper activity from the reefs off Bitanganbee, south of Eden, but cool currents inshore continue to make bottom dropping slow with catches elsewhere few and far between. Gummy shark have responded during the full moon with fresh salmon a great bait. Beach salmon are patchy, best areas North Tura and Main Beach.
Bream remain active in the Merimbula and Pambula Lakes but well upstream in the Bega River. Soft plastics, hard bodies and peeled prawns remain the best baits. Tura Beach angler Leon Leondiou passed on his photo showing a magnificent dusky flathead caught locally using squidgy plastics. Tailor are schooling all through the estuaries including Merimbula Lake and on Main Beach.
The Merimbula Big Game & Lakes Angling Club will be hosting its annual sponsors evening on Saturday, September 3.
