Nethercote Market Incorporated president Amanda Stroud said the not-for-profit market was first established by Karen Lott and Barbara Green in January 2009, with a mandate for “low food miles”.
“Everything in the market is sourced within a 100km radius,” Ms Stroud said. “So the market is all about encouraging community to grow seasonal produce and enjoy fresh food and all the health benefits.”
Infused by the music of the Paul Dion trio, the special anniversary will feature a huge birthday cake fashioned by Ellen Soroka – daughter of market founder Karen Lott – and has a bevvy of award-winning fare on offer, including Rocky Hall wine, Tilba Cheese, Palarang organic meat, artisan bread from Candelo’s Wheatley Lane Bread, as well as a full range of locally produced fruit and vegetables.
The market runs from 8am to 12pm at Nethercote Hall.
