Moffatt's striking three-metre steel and rock artwork won the Bega Valley Shire Council's $10,000 Acquisitive Prize for Sculpture on the Edge earlier this year.
A Bega Valley Shire Council delegation toured Eden recently looking for a suitable location for the sculpture, with two sites on Imlay Street capturing their attention.
Mayor Michael Britten said he could visualise the sculpture in the yet-to-be-constructed walkway beside the iconic Hotel Australasia.
It is envisaged that the walkway between the old hotel and Twofold Arcade, linking the back carpark and main street, will feature a garden, paving and outdoor artworks.
The delegation also investigated the possibility of temporarily installing the sculpture on the median strip opposite the Great Southern Inn until the Hotel Australasia restoration is complete.
“The important thing is to get The Giving Tree on display in Eden,” Cr Britten said.
