“Art is essential to any culture, creating a sense of cultural identity and pride,” Senator Fifield said.
The $3 million Indigenous Languages and Arts program funds a variety of projects nationwide, including a touring theatre production, photographic exhibition, contemporary dance and collaborative cross-media projects.
The windfall for Eden’s Jigamy Farm was announced last Thursday, November 19, by Federal Member Peter Hendy.
“$50,000 will be provided to the Bundian Way Art Project for the production of an artwork that will celebrate the Jigamy Keeping Place as the gateway to the Bundian Way,” Dr Hendy said.
Bundian Way project officer John Blay said the funding would be invested in setting up an “arts precinct” at Jigamy Farm.
