Organisers are currently calling for team nominations for the new competition that will feature teams of 10 participants.
All players over the age of 14 are welcome with teams to field at least one female at all times.
The format features nine players on the field with one reserve.
We have growing participation and everyone who takes part is having a great time.
A spokesman for the event said it had proved hugely popular previously and they were excited to bring the format back.
“We have growing participation and everyone who takes part is having a great time,” the spokesman said.
The first round will see four games played on the evening with two games running simultaneously on a modified field.
Games will be played on Wednesdays with the first games kicking off at 6pm.
The second round runs from 6.45pm.
The cost per team is $400 for the competition to cover insurance ($40 per player).
Single entries are welcome at a cost of $40 and organisers will slot you into an open team.
For those unfamiliar with the format, 9s is a fast-paced, highly skilled game with no contact.
Matches are played on a 90-metre field that is split into forward, centre and back sections.
To limit long-range kickers, scoring can only be done by the forward players inside the forward zone.
Goals are six points, but any female goal kickers earn nine points for their team.
“The main focus on the night is to be social, get everyone involved in having a go and come away having a laugh and making some great friends,” the spokesman said.
Previously, the 9s has proved a popular competition for regular club players, as well as families and for partners.
Organisers are again hoping to see some strong entries from around the valley to take part.
A barbecue and drinks will be provided each week with the proceeds donated to local charities at the end of the competition.
The last three years have been phenomenally successful.
Organisers donated more than $3000 worth of toys to the Salvation Army.
The toys were then provided to less fortunate children in the Bega Valley who would otherwise not receive presents at Christmas.
Money has also been donated to help purchase a disabled access vehicle for a local family.
Money raised has even been able to sent as international aid to build shelter in areas affected by floods and storm.
Organisers are urging everyone to take part in this fun, friendly event.
