“I’m part of the Australian Volunteers for International Development (AVID) program,” Ms Riethmuller said.
“I’ll be living on Lombok and working with a local not-for-profit organisation. My role will be as a marine environmental education officer with Juang Laut Lestari (JARI) to promote marine biodiversity in schools.”
JARI literally translates to ‘endeavouring for marine conservation’, and is an NGO focused on marine conservation and educational outreach principally through schools.
“I’m extremely excited about this adventure,” Ms Riethmuller said.
“I’ll be back with stories and photos galore.”
Ms Riethmuller departs Australia next Thursday, October 15.
