High school girls are encouraged to limber up for a happier life, with Free Girls Yoga as their guide.
“Free Girls Yoga is a community service initiative offering free yoga classes to girls in high schools in the local community,” ambassador for the group, Rikai Blondel, said.
“We believe yoga is a huge benefit for girls, for better health, happiness and self empowerment,” Ms Blondel said.
Founder, Elke Avis, started the initiative in August 2014, offering her first classes in high schools in Sydney’s northern beaches.
Interest in the project quickly gathered momentum, with classes now running in Sydney, Newcastle and Coffs Harbour, as well as overseas.
Free Girls Yoga classes will be held at the Pambula Beach Surf Life Saving Club, starting next month.
The class will be held from 4.30pm to 5.30pm on the first Tuesday of every month, starting on June 2.
“Our mission is to unite girls together in support of each other, accepting themselves and what makes them girls,” Ms Blondel said.
“Through the practices of yoga we want to see girls achieve a radiantly healthy respect for their bodies, have emotional stability, and feel good about themselves and their place in the world.”
