The annual Presidents versus Captain single stableford event was held at the Eden Golf Club on Saturday with a very disappointing field of 48 in attendance.
In his maiden voyage as captain, the Mark Davidson team was defeated by the president’s team 776 points to 729 with many more losses to come in future years.
Winner of the day was John Miller who realised an excellent scoreline of 42 points on a countback, certainly some satisfaction after the less of his beloved Rabbits by the mightly Eels.
Second place went to Steve Huff with a fine round of 42 points.
The veteran Grant Inwood displayed a touch of class with his excellent round of 41 points.
The ball rundown was recorded at 32 points on a count back.
Nearest the pins on the third and Golden shot was Charlie Miles, eighth Adam Inwood, 10th John Miller, 18th Richard Gilmour.
On Saturday members and visitors will contest the April monthly medal with trophies supplied by Rankin Builders.
Easter Sunday will be the Stoney Creek Classic, a stableford event for three players with certain format conditions.
The time sheet is available in the Proshop or ring 6496 1054 for reservations.
Hitoff time for the Classic will be 11am shotgun start.
Winners of the event will qualify for the regional final to be held at Catalina with a date to be advised.
Other enlightening news to hand is that the division one pennant squad were defeated by Tura Beach on Sunday at Bega three and a half to one and a half.
The semi finals will be played on Sunday April 12 and the Eden team will again challenge Tura Beach at a venue to be decided.
Regrettably division two suffered a loss to Bermagui at Tura four and a half to a half and they will not qualify for the semifinals, however they did their club proud with their achievements during the pennant season.
The senior squad finished on a winning note by defeating Pambula-Merimbula three to two at Bega and they also have been eliminated from semifinal dreams.
They also performed admirably and the club appreciates their efforts.
