A severe fall left Frater with a broken collarbone, which required surgery in Sydney, and a gash to her forehead, in late August.
But she is ready to ride Joseph and Jones Racing’s (JJR) Back To Zero for his hopeful third Cup win in four years.
Trainer Barbara Joseph said Frater is in high spirits and ready to ride.
“She’s really excited to be cleared and will start riding again tomorrow
[Saturday, October 11],” Joseph said.
“She has [had] a week to get ready for the cup.
“Carly’s been out for six weeks, but she has come back very strong.
“She is a very fit girl,” she said.
Back To Zero is an eight-year-old bay gelding born by Reset out of Biscara.
He has had eight wins from 52 starts, with prize money totalling $130,515.
Joseph said he may be an old horse, but he still has the heart to win.
“He’s lovely to work with,” she said.
JJR has four runners on the day – Our Cracker, Zakia, Given No Hope and Back To Zero.
“It takes about 12 weeks of training, at our Canberra stables, to get them ready for the race,” Mrs Joseph said.
“They’ll be brought up for the race.”
The Bombala Cup is shaping up to be a great day, according to Mrs Joseph.
“We only hold the race meeting once a year, but we always do really well.”
The Bombala Cup is on Saturday, October 18 at the Bombala and District Jockey Club.
Marquee entry is $35 and includes a seat and race book.
Seafood platters, which must be
pre-booked, are also available for $70.
Fashions on the field is gearing up to be a highlight on the day and there will be entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.
