The Killer Whale ladies continued their impressive start to the season.
Coach Debbie Heron said her squad continued to impress on the field.
“Co-captain Kim Peters was a popular choice as players’ player,” Heron said.
“She anchored the defenders and inspired the side from the back.
“Kamilla Grubesic is proving an integral part of the team and it seems if she’s not saving goals, she’s scoring them with ease,” she said.
Former goalie, Grubesic bagged an impressive hat-trick and is leading the goal-kicking tally.
“Mel Mitchell chipped in with a double, while Tanya Waites and Lee Harris shared the goal keeping duties,” Heron said.
The Ron Doyle Motors sponsored side is turning up ready to play week after week and the depth and versatility of the team is outstanding.
Heron said her main concern at the moment is finding the best formation and positions for the girls.
“We have quite a strong team full of talented players, but everyone has decided they would like to play midfield this year which is causing few headaches,” she said with a laugh.
“We had a good opportunity to mix things up quite a bit against Bemboka, but it will be back to business as usual against Bega when we come up against them in our next match.”
Eden will enjoy a bye this weekend before taking on a very strong Bega Devils outfit at Merimbula on Sunday, May 25.
Heron said based on previous results it could be a benchmark game.
“Bega annihilated Bemboka 12-1 the previous week and with Eden hammering 14 past Pambula in round one, it will surely be the match of the round,” she said.
The match will be a decider on who is going to take the lead of the competition at this early stage.
