The first idols for the Eden Motor Group’s dealer principal were the car salesmen of his local dealerships, the men who roared off in their GTs and Mustangs after a day’s work.
With 32 years industry experience behind him, Mr Zurcas has begun a new chapter in Eden, at a dealership that was created by the Fraser family at the same time his motoring drive was kindled on the kerbs of Victoria.
“When I was a kid growing up it was really, really special going to the car dealership,” he said.
“All my mates and I would go into dealerships just to get a brochure off the car salesman, they were like rock stars because they drove the GT Falcons and they had the GT Capris and the Monaro’s and all that.
“They had the cars we all dreamt of.”
The vehicles have changed but he is still a self-described “petrol head” and awaiting the arrival of his beloved 1966 GT Mustang, currently in Victoria getting a ‘spruce up’.
His wants motorists to know Eden is the car hub of the coast.
The dealership has just received 100 per cent positive results in customer surveys and is backed by Toyota, Ford and Suzuki and his own customising touch for those who want something unique.
The service centre is now open Saturday mornings and there is a pick up and drop off service for those who can’t make it into the dealership.
It is the home of NRMA roadside assistance and insurance and has a growing fleet of loan and demonstration cars.
For interstate clients, Mr Zurcas throws in an overnight package to entice them to Eden to pick up their car.
“People can come here to buy new or used cars, spare parts, get their car serviced and any advice they want they can talk to us, especially me,” Mr Zurcas said.
“I want to be a part of the future growth of the town but also the individuals that are here too,” he said.
“It’s great to see people that haven’t been here before coming to pick up their car, and spending the weekend,” he said.
“Let’s face it between Troy (Ron Doyle Motors) and I we have the best brands going!”
Five new staff have been employed in recent months and sales have tripled.
Two apprentices, Scott Gordon and Nathan Goodrich are learning the ropes from the experienced team of mechanics.
“Our focus here in on attention to detail, like never before, for the satisfaction of our customers.”
“The place is in good hands and will continue to prosper and grow.”
