ACM understands that the driver used both fire extinguishers from inside the cab and was assisted by staff from the nearby bakery, Wild Ryes who used a further three extinguishers.
The flames appeared to have started in between the cab and rear of the truck but spread into the cab before being put out.
Diversions were in place for somethime as Pambula RFS cleaned up oil that had spilt onto the road, before opening the road - which forms part of the Princes Highway - again.
