Is your garden safe?
Spring is here so now is the time to research whether your garden is safe for your pets. Many poisonous plants, if consumed, can have serious consequences for your pets.
For example the Brunsfelsia is a very dangerous plant for dogs (especially puppies) and if eaten, the plant, especially the fruit which comes after flowering, they may die. Liliums are toxic to cats especially, and all parts of the plants are poisonous – bulbs, leaves, flowers. This includes the cut flowers you buy from the florist as well as the garden plants. Snail and slug baits and rat and mice baits are another threat to pets. Certain mulches and fertilizers can cause serious side effects if ingested.
Gamer Dev Jam
After last year’s success, Gamer Dev Jam is back. It’s a weekend of fun filled exploration of tech. Last year the IntoIT Sapphire Coast community group brought you Gamer Dev Jam. It was a fantastic event during which 50+ participants enjoyed two days of fun and engaging activities centred around computer game creation. There were Virtual Reality games, Ableton electronic music controllers, NAO robots, and who could forget meeting Hex from Good Game.
This year it is on again October 7-8 at the Bega Valley Regional Learning Centre in Merimbula.
The event focuses on the creation of a game prototype and is loosely competitive. Participants are not required to know how to make a game. Games are made in teams and there are a variety of ways participants can contribute. Teams benefit greatly from having artists, writers, entrepreneurs, sound effects and music creators, and programmers. For novices and complete beginners there will be many mentors.
If you have an idea for a game, some applicable skills, are interested in the process of game creation, or just want to have a fun, get your tickets now at gdj17.eventbrite.com.au. For information Chris Bateman at chris@theloadedgamer.com
