Next year will mark 150 years of public education in Wyndham.
And with such an important occasion looming, the school’s P&C has organised a meeting this Friday to get planning for the celebration underway.
“It will be an exciting time to be a part of our wonderful little school,” Wyndham Public School relieving principal Heather Bell said.
“It is hoped that a committee, that will be responsible for all the organisation of the celebrations, will be formed at this time.” Ms Bell said.
Wyndham Public School opened in July, 1868. The first teacher was Mark Johnston, a 27-year-old Englishman who arrived on the steamer ‘Merimbula’ to teach at Wyndham and Burragate on a salary of 72 pounds a year.
The meeting will be held this Friday, July 28, at 1.30pm in the school library. All interested people are invited to attend.
