Continuing drought devastates the area, but Libby is looking forward to checking how the drought resistant plants planted in vegetable gardens in 2016 are surviving.
Libby’s sewing classes continue. Ladies with very little education and no skills, are now competent and creative sewers. Some of them run their own small businesses, and some have been employed.
Libby has acquired some commercial machines, and now runs advanced courses for those people showing promise. So far all those who have completed the courses have gained employment.
Welding classes have been just as successful with both men and women. There is a critical shortage of trade skills in the country, so undertaking these courses not only makes people employable, but they are using their skills to make items which are being sold in the community. The waiting list for both these courses is endless.
Computer training courses are now run for school age children. None of these children have access to computers, but it is evident that they will need computer literacy to be employable.
Libby is proving that it is possible to make changes, and improve lives, even if it is only one life at a time.
