There have been some hook ups including striped marlin, dorado and shark with the best reports near the drop off out of Merimbula and Eden.

Closer to shore, the full moon means gummy shark are plentiful at the reef edges and catches have been reported up to 12kg.

Morwong remain the staple along the reefs from Boyd's Tower, North Head, Horseshoe and past Haycock and Long Point.

Snapper are also making their presence felt around the reefs off Lennards, North Head and Boyd's.

Around Merimbula, salmon have been schooling near short point and the Tathra and Merimbula wharves.

Tathra also has some garfish on offer for those with whitebait and float lines.

At Merimbula wharf, the run of calamari squid reached a climax during the full moon with locals and visitors alike bagging out.

The Squid were generally small but succulent, members said.  Best time early morning and after dark.  At the same time luderick shut down, possibly due to the moon phase or perhaps the wild seas of late which can wash lots of feed off the rocks.

At Merimbula bream remain active around the oyster racks; here soft plastics or pilchards are the way to go.  Dusky flathead are on the bite and not affected by the recent drop in ocean temperatures.

The club's Dusky dash for cash catch and release tournament is on this weekend with a big roll up anticipated.

All cash prizes will double if the club receives more than 80 entries with doors open Friday from 6.30pm for a briefing.

Fishing is open Saturday from 6am and entry forms are available at McKays Oysters, Tackleworld Merimbula and the clubhouse in Spencer Park.

The next event on the calendar is the club's annual seafood dinner which will run on April 1.

It is a seven-course 'seafood spectacular', but tickets are strictly limited with just 70 seats available.

Bookings and payments can be made at the club rooms.
