It's a good outcome for the shire and the community.
- Mayor Kristy McBain
The exemption will save CCASE $86,832 in charges that it would normally have to pay to council.
In its submission to council CCASE said that exemption of S64 charges by council would “significantly assist the project to achieve its building target for stage 2 construction within the next 12 months”.
CCASE said that any commitment of funds or reduction in the budget for project expenditure would assist in the group’s dollar for dollar matching grant application with the federal government’s Building Better Regions Funding (BBRF) program.
Councillor Tony Allen said it was important that council could assist in this way.
Mayor Kristy McBain said that while it was a loss of income for the council it was very worthwhile to give assistance and important for council to be playing its part in something of such community benefit.
The target group for the facility is carers/family members needing to stay close while a loved one/family member is in hospital.
