“I was given the award for Best Cry, which was particularly satisfying as this was the first time that I have officially represented the Bega Valley Shire in any Guild contest,” Mr Moyse said.
“When you compete you do two cries,” Mr Moyse said on Monday. “One was about your home-base so I cried about the Bega Valley Shire and how wonderful it is, and the other cry was about the real Father Christmas.”
Mr Moyse said each cry was restricted to 120 words, which were pre-written and practiced.
“The judges make sure you don’t get any words wrong or add anything to it,” Mr Moyse said. “If you happen to mispronounce or get a word wrong you lose points.”
Mr Moyse will represent the Bega Valley Shire in more competitions in 2017, including his first international competition in SA in April, and a championship in West Wyalong NSW.
