Last weekend the Merimbula Big Game & Lakes Angling Club held its annual trip away to Wonboyn Lake Resort, coinciding with national “Gone Fishing Day”.  Congratulations to Darragh Reynolds taking out the Mex Williams trophy for the largest dusky flathead.

Large calamari squid have frequented the Merimbula Fishing Platform.  Large luderick have been sighted and are expected to come on the bite in the next 2-3 weeks.

Ocean flathead are on the chew north of Tathra.  Depths of 15 to 20 fathoms give good results for both sand and tiger flathead.  Weather permitting, catches of morwong and snapper are likely all along the local reefs from Eden to Bermagui.

Australian salmon remain patchy on the local beaches and headlands, best reports come from Haycock Beach.

Tailor and trevally are about in the Merimbula Top Lake and the estuaries are coming to life with some bream and dusky flathead reported.  Tailor are schooling all through the estuaries including Merimbula Lake and on Main Beach.  Merimbula Lake has returned a few dusky flathead.
