“$110 million has been provided by the NSW Government, to construct modern water and sewerage infrastructure in regional towns like Potato Point across the state,” Mr Constance said.
“The funding will help clear a backlog of projects in country towns affected by ongoing water quality and sewage problems.
“The Potato Point project will see the construction of a new wastewater management facility which includes the village collection system, a pump station and sewage treatment plant, providing essential services to the small community.”
Newly elected Eurobodalla mayor Liz Innes also welcomed the announcement.
“This is fantastic news for the Potato Point community and again reflects the great support from the NSW Government and our local member Andrew Constance,” Clr Innes said.
“I also thank our previous council for their advocacy work. The timing of the announcement is excellent as it means the work on the Potato Point scheme can follow on the Bodalla sewerage scheme.
“The proposed treatment plant off Potato Point Road has already been designed for easy upgrade to take the extra sewage from the Potato Point township.
“The next step will be to progress the detailed designs for the Potato Point system and we will be engaging with residents and landowners in Potato Point through this process.”
Mr Constance said the NSW Government’s Regional Water and Waste Water Backlog Program would ensure regional towns have safe and reliable water and wastewater services.
The program is part of Restart NSW, which provides funding for critical infrastructure across the state to improve both productivity and competitiveness.
