Thirty-seven-year-old Khayyam Halliwell of Beverley St was charged with assault occasioning actual bodily harm on his defacto partner of two years in the Sydney suburb of Bexley in June 2012 after an argument over chocolate milk.
Police were unable to find Halliwell after the incident, they did however mange to contact him by phone requesting he turn himself in.
He told police he was in Canberra for the weekend at the time and would hand himself in upon returning to Sydney.
An arrest warrant was issued and after four years of evading police he was located at a Merimbula address on Tuesday.
Halliwell asked the officers why they were watching him and he was told of the outstanding warrant.
Halliwell was sentenced in Bega Local Court to an 18 month good behaviour bond.
