The fire started when a permitted pile burn got out of control.
When volunteers from Pambula RFS arrived the fire was around six metres in diametre however, a surge of wind saw the fire grow and forced them to call back up from Merimbula RFS. Firefighter Jarrod Tilley said the fire was put out within an hour.
“It was a standard grass fire and the woman did the right thing by calling triple-0 as soon as she realised she had lost control.”
